Restorations Plus is one of the few restoration companies to use Old World techniques, such as applying gesso over wood, to replicate or restore Catholic statues to their original condition and finish. Here is just one example of the painstaking care and craftsmanship we bring to every project!

Step One: Carved Wood Statue

Restorations Plus commissioned a Catholic saint statue to be carved in Italy, replicating the original piece located in Albi, France.

Step 2: Gesso, Painted Polychrome

We applied gesso to the newly carved statue, then painted it to match the original.

Step 3: Altar Painting

We crafted a new altar matching an existing church altar, then applied gold leaf and hand painting to replicate the original.

Step 4: Mosaic Work and Finish

The final step included adding mosaic work and a new marble top.

Step 5: Completed Work

The completed project is now on display at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Louis
